Software as a service production scheduling has come a long way in the last five years. There are several new companies that offer a high end solution that can often times include advanced features such as capacity planning, advanced planning and artificial intelligence. These systems are available as a software as a service model. Software as a service is technology that can be purchased on a monthly basis as opposed to paying for a system in total when you install it.
There are a couple of companies that have been around for quite some time that are now offering a SaaS package. Among these companies are Tuppas Software Corporation and ShopFloorReporting.com. Tuppas is an ERP solution that has a large collection of manufacturing and supplier based customers and ShopFloorReporting.com is a company that specializes in MES (manufacturing execution systems). Both of these companies offer high end scheduling solutions that are browser based technology.
PlantSchedule.com is an emergent company that offers a SaaS solution. They have several different flavors of planning boards available and they are good at manufacturing and project management style planning solutions. PlantSchedule.com offers a Microsoft based system that doesn’t offer a lot of room for modification while Tuppas and Shopfloorreporting.com offer SaaS systems that can be modified. Both types of systems can help a company become more productive but a system that can be modified will often times be the better choice as it will allow a company to take advantage of emerging business opportunities.
